Tiffany Schofield joined Five Star Publishing in 1999. She currently manages the Five Star Publishing imprint, as well as the Western fiction large print lists for Thorndike Press and Wheeler Publishing, imprints Cengage. Five Star Publishing was awarded the Western Writers of America® Lariat Award (2013) and named Best Western History Book Publisher by True West Magazine (2015). Tiffany is looking for historical fiction stories that are set in the pre-1920s American West.


Tiffany is looking for historical fiction stories set in the pre-1920s American West. Specifically, previously unpublished, completed manuscripts that are traditional Westerns, Action/Adventure Westerns, historical fiction, frontier mysteries and more, all stories set in the pre-1920s American West in the word count range of 60,000-120,000.


The Wild, Wild West: The Evolution of the Western Hero

Explore the history of the Western novel leading up to today’s modern Western novel. Topics will include techniques used by classic and contemporary Western writers to engage their reading fans as well as how the Western novel has evolved, along with its characters … the good, the bad, and the ugly. This presentation will also engage attendees to consider the influences remaining from the classic Western writers and what the future of Western fiction holds for the decade to come.
