16th Annual Florida Writers Conference
“What A Character”
October 19 – 22 in Altamonte Springs, Florida
Literary Agent & Founding Partner, Folio Literary Management
Jeff Kleinman is a literary agent, intellectual property attorney, and founding partner of Folio Literary Management, LLC, a New York literary agency, which works with all of the major U.S. publishers (and, through subagents, with most international publishers). He’s a graduate of Case Western Reserve University (J.D.), the University of Chicago (M.A., Italian), and the University of Virginia (B.A. with High Distinction in English).
Jeff loves unique voices, magnificently strong characters, unusual premises, and books that offer up some new perspective on something he thought he already knew something about or never even dreamed existed. He’d particularly love to find some great dark upmarket or literary psychological suspense, if you have any lying around. Seeking narrative nonfiction with a historical bent, but also memoir, health, parenting, aging, and much more. In fiction, well written character-driven novels; some suspense, thrillers, otherwise mainstream upmarket commercial and literary fiction.
Finding an Agent Boot Camp
Everything a writer needs to know about finding and working with an agent, including how to research, locate, and approach the agent best for you and your project; what material you need to submit to an agent; standard author/agent agreement terms; what to expect your agent to do and not do for you; what you should do and not do for your agent, and more.
Narrative & Creative Nonfiction
Narrative nonfiction continues to be a trendsetter. Best of all, unlike a novel, you sell it based on an outline and a couple of chapters. This nuts-and-bolts workshop will explore what to look for in a subject, how to bolster your credentials and how to construct a saleable proposal.
Life of a Literary Agent
If you have what Jeff is seeking, he’ll be happy to spend some time with you.
