16th Annual Florida Writers Conference
“What A Character”
October 19 – 22 in Altamonte Springs, Florida
Acquisition Editor, Harlequin Books
Emily Rodmell is the editor for Harlequin’s Love Inspired and Love Inspired Suspense lines. She hails from sunny Florida but calls NYC home now. She holds a journalism degree from the University of South Florida, and is a graduate of New York University’s Summer Publishing Institute. She started her career working as a newspaper editor and at the publisher Scholastic, but has been happy to work at Love Inspired for the last decade. She has acquired more than 45 authors in her career with Harlequin and is always on the lookout for more.
She’d love to see stories that keep her guessing and is actively seeking inspirational romance (55k words) and inspirational romantic suspense (55K words). Guidelines for the Love Inspired lines can be found here. She is open to Amish submissions for either of the lines and would also consider pitches that would fit one of Harlequin’s single title imprints: Mira, HQN, Graydon House or Park Row Books. But please research guidelines for those lines before pitching.
How to Write a Killer Romantic Suspense Novel
Romantic suspense is one of the most popular romance genres. In this workshop, an editor of romantic suspense will share how to open your books with a bang, keep readers on the edge of their seats with heart pounding danger and suspense, balance the suspense with a strong and effective romance and hook agents, editors and readers with your stories.
