6th Annual Conference - a Success!                

On November 9th through the 11th, writers from Florida and beyond gathered at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort for the 2007 Florida Writers Association Conference.

The keynote speaker was Richard Paul Evans, author and publisher of the international best seller, The Christmas Box. His inspiring words focused on being true to your craft, believing in yourself and your skills, and doing whatever it takes to turn your dreams into reality.

Mr. Evans also signed copies of his books and was on hand to answer questions throughout the conference. Each attendee received The Christmas Box, his own first edition, not what was available in bookstores.

We were also fortunate to have William Nolan, author of Logan’s Run, as a luncheon speaker and workshop presenter, as well as many agents, publishers, and authors, all leaders in their field.
 
Writers attended presentations on a variety of subjects including understanding contracts, improving their fiction writing, developing interviewing skills, and how to prepare a pitch.

In addition, a number of agents and publishers were available for 10-minute interview sessions where writers could present their work, ask questions, and get advice from experts.

Mentoring sessions were available that concentrated on helping writers develop their careers and publicize their talents.

Karen Lieb, Photography Chair for the 2008 FWA Conference is putting together a slideshow for the conference and needs your help. What kind of photos is she looking for?

    * Group photos of every FWA writer's group
    * 2007 conference photos: before, 
        during, and after
    * 2007 conference volunteers
    * FWA writers holding andor signing 
        their books
    * Local conference, meeting, or event photos
    * Any photo of a FWA member

Karen welcomes your submissions and ideas. She'll use as many photos as she can for the slideshow, but can't promise that yours will be included.

Please send high-res digital photos and write "FWA Photos from ____" in the subject line of your email. Don't worry about red eyes or excess stuff in the photo, Karen will fix and crop any photo.  If possible, please let her know the names of people in the photos, which writer's group they belong to, when and where it was taken, and who took the photo.
